Above is a blog post my friend, Allyson, wrote about her Chinese roommate, Kitty, and the difference in opinion between the Chinese culture and the Western culture as to what they believe to be “the definition of beauty”. I, too, find it so interesting how young Chinese girls here define “beauty” so much differently than I personally do. All of them want to be even skinner and tinier when they are already so small to begin with! It is just such a different perspective since back in America, we are exposed to loving our bodies, no matter what size or shape and to embrace your voluptuous curves. (I certainly do!) I agree with Allyson; you are beautiful, Kitty! And I, too, hope that you can see how beautiful you truly are, inside and out!
